MB loves to say ‘the best or nothing at all’. Surprisingly, Mercedes Benz accepted NO responsibly what-so-ever. Meanwhile, I contacted MB customer service for some assistance as they knew full-well the original engine coils were going to fail much sooner than expected (coils normally last over 150,000 miles). I did the same when the next 4 coils failed. MB replace the first one (under warranty) with a different engine coil (which worked perfectly). No less than 5 of the 8 original coils failed between 23,000 and 38,000 miles. ![]() This set of challenges first starts off with a genre staple, the tournament arc. This places everyone on high alert as they move forward with the calendar year. They fought against real-world villains, a situation that's already rare enough for students but made all the more alarming given that the face-off took place on school grounds. Thankfully, this 2nd season shows promise of that possibly coming to fruition if they handle the content properly moving forward.īut before we open that can of worms, let’s get everyone up to speed.Ĭoming off season one's finale, our group of young heroes finds themselves becoming in-house celebrities on their school's campus, and for good reason. ![]() Basically, how well does the title in question use the tools at its disposal? And with that in mind, Boku no Hero Academia has some kinks it needs to iron out before it occupies any shelf-space alongside the genre’s cherished entries. But what’s usually beyond the general knowledge of the viewing audience is the inner-workings that drive the content they consume. We don’t need critics to tell us that “SPOILER ALERT, shounens have very simple themes.” Anyone with a modicum of common sense could do that on their own. The utilization of literary devices is something all storytelling media shares, and it’s in this truth that we can adequately gauge quality control in a fair manner. No matter the demographic or genre it services, poor writing isn't autonomous to critique, and in my opinion, that’s the space where a reviewer is needed to occupy. What can and will be critiqued, however, is the mechanics of its universe and the functionality of all the moving parts-characters and their purpose notwithstanding. And in that regard, Boku No Hero Academia has proven to be a steady entry in the ever-expanding superhero/shounen canon, and I see no reason to ostracize it because it isn't overly ambitious. Sometimes, being the byproduct to ride the wave of other tentpole entries is just fine. In the same way, not every action film is expected to be a seminal game-changer in the way The Matrix did for bullet-time effects and stylized violence or Inception for its audiovisual craftsmanship and technical proficiency. Not every shounen could escape its role to become Fullmetal Alchemist nor should it be required to. With all that being said, couldn't a shounen that operates within the realm of its genre commonalities be allowed to revel in it, even if it may air on the side of self-indulgence at times? I say it should. So why then is that benefit not allotted to shounens for being just that a shounen? What I’m trying to say, in more words or less, is if a shounen isn't allowed to be a shounen without being reprimanded, what purpose does it even serve anymore? If a shounen isn't allowed to be about the fundamental fight between good and evil, with said fights being carried out through the proxy of colorfully decorated personalities, then at what point does it cease to make sense for it to even be made at all? Or better yet, why bother to scrutinize it for doing what that genre has been predicated on since its inception? At what point does valid criticism capsize towards the side of pointless nitpicking? You won't always discredit comedies for having situational humor nor will you shame an action movie for delivering on its promise of cool fights and chase scenes. a shounen in such restrictive terms, to begin with. ![]() But if you did decide to adopt that approach, that then calls into question the very essence of critiquing And if you were to choose that stance, defendants would be hard-pressed to argue against it. Or something to the effect of its story being recycled. ![]() To make broad statements about the characters themselves being repackaged personalities with only a fresh coat of paint and appearance to their name. It's easy to point the finger at Boku No Hero Academia and label it as just one and the same as any other shounen that populates the medium. Alternatively, you can select an entirely new folder to save the resized images. You can save the files in the same location, which will create a new folder named as the type of file format in which you save the photos. The second section allows you to set the export settings for the newly resized images. Note: If you have multiple images open in Photoshop, you can also select Use Open Images to batch save the open files. Leave Open first image to apply settings unchecked. ![]() You can then check the box next to include all sub-folders if you have various folders inside the main folder that you want to resize with the same dimensions. Then, find the folder in your files, select it, and click OK. First, click Select Folder to open your Windows Explorer or Finder panel. In the Image Processor window, the first section is the settings to select the source folder for the photos you want to resize. The Image Processor window will open, giving you several options for resizing your images broken up into four sections. Once on the Home Screen, you can go to File > Scripts > Image Processor. Instead, open Photoshop and stay on the Home Screen. When using the Image Processor method, you don’t need to open the Photoshop workspace, meaning you don’t need to open an image or a new document. Step 1: Open Photoshop And Go To File > Scripts > Image Processor While I only have eight images, you can have as many photos as you like, but the more pictures you have, the slower the process will be. I will be resizing this folder of Bikepacking images. You should have all your photos in one folder before you begin. So split the images into portrait and landscape and resize the folders separately if you need. However, it offers less customization and control than the second method, which uses Photoshop actions.Įnsure your photos are in the same orientation, as you can only set one width and height value for each batch. This method is the fastest and easiest way to batch resize your images. You can also add a preset to all the images, along with resizing. Using the image processor allows you to batch resize pictures without entering the Photoshop workspace. How To Batch Resize In Photoshop Using The Image Processor There are two easy ways to complete this task, and both are useful if you want to resize images from a photo shoot to send proofs to a client or if you need all the pictures changed to a specific size to upload to your website. The process is streamlined and easy to learn so that you can resize a large volume of pictures in no time. This feature allows you to resize photos to a specific size without editing them individually. Browse to the location/folder containing your images and select them > Tools > Image Processor.ģ. Open Photoshop and select File > Browse in Bridge.Ģ. In Photoshop ,you can record an ‘action” of you resizing an image then ‘Batch process’ that action on a lot of images, but I find that ‘clunky’ and sometimes it simply will not do what I want it to do! The Bunny Ears cactus has fine hair-like spines (glochids) that are extremely thin. Occasionally, you may see yellow flowers blooming on the Bunny Ears. However, as with most cacti, the Bunny Ears cactus is slow-growing and a small type of plant will take a few years to reach this height. The small size of this cactus makes it a perfect house plant.īunny Ears cactus is a flowering type of cactus native to Mexico that grows indoors just as well as it grows outdoors. The Bunny Ears is a flowering type of cactus which resembles rabbit’s ears. So now that you know that cacti are flowering plants that are easy to care for, let’s look at many types of cacti for growing indoors and outdoors. Types of Cactus (With Pictures and Names) – Identification Guide Even furry-looking cacti with soft fuzzy hairs can cause skin irritation due to their soft barbed spines. Cactus varieties with stiff, sharp spines can cause injury by puncturing the skin. It’s usually best to handle cactus plants with care. Most types of house cacti are small succulent plants that grow in sandy soil and direct sunlight. All types of cactus flower, and you can tell the species depending on when it blooms. Cacti can have a spherical, columnar, cylindrical, or disc shape and typically have characteristic areoles (small bumps) where sharp or soft spines grow. ![]() How to Identify Cactus VarietiesĬactus identification is usually based on their shape, blooming habits, and spines or hairs. In fact, one of the differences between cacti and other types of succulents is the fact that they flower. Yellow, orange, white, and burgundy flowers are also common in various types of cactus. Cactus flowers can be various colors from deep pinks to beautiful shades of red. Although short-lived, cactus flowers can be stunning. One of the most striking features of all cactus varieties is their flowers. For example, the Prickly Pear has soft hair-like spines that can easily cause irritation if they lodge in your skin. Other cacti varieties have softer spines to protect the plant. Some types of cacti have long sharp spikes that can cause pain if they prick your skin. Many types of desert cacti stems also have ribs that allow the plant to expand when it takes in moisture after heavy rainfalls.Īnother of the identifying features of cacti is their spines. This means that less evaporation occurs during the hot day. Contrasting with other plants, all cactus species take in carbon dioxide at night when temperatures are cooler. One of the unique features of cacti plants is the way they photosynthesize. Most varieties of cacti have stems that are in varying shades of green. Cacti retain their moisture in their stems rather than in their fleshy leaves. There are thousands of different types of cacti, with all of them being native to the Americas.Īlthough cacti are classified as succulents, they differ from many types of succulents. The cactus plant family ( Cactaceae) consists of a number of unique succulent-type plants that thrive in dry conditions. Some good choices of desert cactus types for growing outside are the Arizona Barrel Cactus, the Prickly Pear, and the Old Man Cactus. If you live in a warm climate, planting different kinds of cacti can decorate your garden or rock garden. Of course, cacti are well-known for growing outdoors in arid deserts. Popular indoor varieties of cacti include Bunny Ears, Christmas cactus, Moon cactus, and the Balloon cactus. The majority of indoor cactus plants need to be in a small pot on a sunny window sill and get watered occasionally. ![]() One of the great things about having different types of cacti as houseplants is that they need little watering. Some cactus species also thrive in tropical climates where they require a warm humid environment. Lots of different types of cacti also thrive outdoors where the climate is hot and dry. Cacti come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, and some house cacti look stunning when they flower. There is a wide variety of cacti to choose from if you want to grow this type of plant. Queen Lavana is intricately described.but this is a touch ironic, considering her appearance is a telepathically reinforced lie. The same goes for Cinder, the two stepsisters, and whatever the stepmother looks like sans makeup. I'm still not clear on what Prince Kai looked like, aside from black hair and handsome-by-general-consensus. Add to that, there seems a deliberate sparseness of physical descriptors for a majority of main and side characters. It's set (presumably) so far in the future, I would expect a significant genetic muddling to have taken place by then. Side Note: I'm not among those who have some huge ethnicity beef with this book. And by “more and less than human” I mean they've turned into a reclusive race of telepathically-manipulative, technologically-superior beings controlled by one uber-vain brainwashing queen who brazenly slaughters all who do or might oppose her sociopathic will. In Cinder's world, characters throw around words like “intergalactic,”and the moon has been long ago colonized by humans who have-through unspecified means-become something both more and less than human. There are hints that this is taking place many centuries farther in the future-or perhaps in some alternate version of our reality's future (my personally favored theory). Each resulting nation seems to run its own form of sovereign government-the story taking place in the “Eastern Commonwealth,” a monarchy with New Beijing at its center. ![]() Readers will gather that it's been 125+ years since World War 4 decimated large portions of the population and somehow resulted in a joining together of countries into a conglomerate of six nations-which generally sound like they're based on the six habitable continents. How far in the future the book is set isn't clear. But despite the questionably-justified (and minimally explored) suspension of human rights for cyborgs-and the looming threat of an incurable (but vaguely explained) pandemic-this story really doesn't have that gritty dystopian aftertaste. (Nope.haven't seen that before!) There's no fairy godmother to be had, and the closest thing Cinder has to benevolent animal companions is an outdated, pleasantly dysfunctional android named Iko. In a market flooded by retellings, this twist on Cinderella offers a cyborg grease-monkey heroine with a spitfire attitude and a bad case of technologically-induced amnesia. The cyberpunk fairytale concept is intriguing. Instead it took me until 2/3rds of the way through the book to arrive at this crucial genre and target-audience specification. If I'd looked at it this way up front, I'm sure I would have been in a better mindset to enjoy the read rather than getting hung up on the many scientific and medical aspects that required a suspension of logic/disbelief. Firstly, I want to (hopefully) save some readers the confusion and label this book as Syfy-Fantasy-Lite, with a feel on the middle-grade end of the YA spectrum. ![]() ![]() ![]() “Stop throwing them in the bottom of your purse (or is that just me?) and slip them into a fun handmade case. “After we finished our cards, I whipped up these little card holders out of scraps of felt so we would get them out and about with us right away.” Rock Paper Feather Felt Business Card Holder “When we headed off on holiday recently I knew I needed a project to work on while we were en route, so I decided to dig through my stash of felted fabric and make one to hang onto.” Decorate the case with washi tape or stamps for a cute way to present gift cards.” Use patterned gift wrap (I like heavier-weight wrapping paper for a sturdier case), graph paper, a paper bag, magazine pages, or origami paper. “Here's a quick and easy origami project: a business card case or gift card holder.
